Remember when news traveled best over a wooden porch rail, with the squeak of a rocking chair and the clink of ice in a glass of lemonade? When a quick walk turned into an afternoon of swapping stories, sharing laughter, and catching up on everything from town gossip to who’s baking pies for the church dinner? That’s the heart of the Front Porch Press. The place where neighbors meet, stories linger, and community feels like home.
Welcome to Our Monthly(ish) Community Newsletter
We’ll be bringing this to you the first Monday of each month! You can count on a regular dose of small-town updates, upcoming events, and neighborly news. But, in true porch-style fashion, if there’s something just too good to wait until next month, don’t be surprised if we swing by your inbox with an extra edition. After all, when there’s good pie cooling on the windowsill, you don’t keep that to yourself.
We're here to share the little glimpses of life around our small towns, the snapshots of the moments that make our corner of Bradford County special. You’ll hear about the heart and hustle of our nonprofits, lending hands and lifting spirits all year long, the businesses supporting those efforts and beyond. And, of course, we’ll keep you in the know about community events! Whether it’s a bustling festival, a quiet craft fair, or a backyard gathering that everyone ends up talking about. Think of it as the same neighborly updates you’d get leaning on a porch railing, only now we’re bringing it right to you... Our hopes from there? To get you back on your neighbors' porches. Share what you've heard here and from the Rocket Courier and the Rocket Shopper. Have conversations and clink the glasses!

PLEASE remember to use caution when traveling the area from the high school, to Terrytown, and out to Hollenback on the morning of Saturday, August 16, 2025! Help us keep our athletes safe and cheer them on if you have the chance!

Aug 24 – Gabe Nickeson Car Show Benefit
Head to the Black Walnut American Legion Post 510 on Sunday, August 24 starting at 10am! This event is being held to help support Gabe and his family as he recovers from a logging accident. Cornhole tournament, Chicken Dinners, DJ, Chinese Auction and more! Let's have a good turnout to support Gabe and his kids in the best way our community knows how! Aug 30 – Labor Day Weekend Extravaganza
Deep Roots Hard Cider will host their annual Labor Day Weekend Extravaganza Saturday August 30 from 2-9pm featuring food trucks, vendors, a bonfire and free fun for the whole family! Put it on your calendars!
September Highlights
Sep 6 – Camptown Races (Camptown)
Always a great time for all! Join us for this event as we cheer on all the athlets coming out for the 5k, 10k, and fun run! Chicken BBQ, Raffles and more. We'll see you in Camptown!
Sep 13 – Wyalusing Wine Festival (Wyalusing)
A classic event for our area! Tickets on sale now for the 20th annual Wyalusing Wine Festival! This fabulous community event features 12 wineries and a great collection of vendors for a wonderful day of fun that supports the Wyalusing Valley Museum and the Wyalusing Lions Club. Sep 20 – Duck Derby (Wyalusing)
A fun-filled first-of-its-kind event for our community! Join us on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 11 AM to 3 PM at 81 Creekside Drive, Wyalusing, for the 1st Annual Wyalusing Duck Derby. It's a day of FREE family fun, live music, and food trucks, all helping support our local nonprofits.
How it works: Adopt a rubber duck to race down the creek and pick which area nonprofit will receive your donation. This year we're supporting the Wyalusing Valley Volunteer Fire Department, Tuscarora Wayne Foundation, Wyalusing Public Library, CHOP Out Hunger, and the Wyalusing Elementary 6th Grade Class Trip to Washington, D.C. There’s even a top prize of $300 for the fastest duck! It’s a perfect blend of whimsy, community spirit, and fundraising fun.

NATIONAL FARMERS' MARKET WEEK Aug 3-9th!
We love our small town local farmers' markets and farm stands! Be sure to support them this week. Our Wyalusing Market is held Friday Mornings 9am-1pm by Community Bank! What are your favorite local farm stands? We love 4-oh-9 in Camptown and Champdale's on Spring Hill. Not to mention Hometown Treasures out in New Albany! Who are you visiting this week?

The Wyalusing Area School District Students Start Back August 20th! Please be cautious and take your time with travel as we all readjust to the bus schedules!
