Highlights Susquehanna Beauty

The Run:
to be determined under 4 miles.

The organizers of the event are emphasizing the special beauty of the Susquehanna and the historic connections to this area’s past. It is hoped that the event will inspire all to appreciate the natural beauty of this area and to practice environmental care. The event is comprised of a run, canoe/kayak paddle and a bicycle course.

Spectators will be afforded many spectacular vantage points from which to observe the race, such as the Wyalusing Rocks Overlook. And as this is the peak of fall foliage season the landscape beauty along the course will be especially inspiring.
The Triathlon will begin at the high school at 9:00 a.m. with the runners then heading left onto US Rte 6, past the high school, across the river bridge and turning right following Rte 187 to the Terrrytown access. The run course is almost all flat and paved, with a few small inclines (overpass) and the downhill slope (gravel) just before the boat area.

Canoe/kayak: 4.6 miles

The paddlers will then proceed downstream (to the right) to Sugar Run and finish at Endless Mountain Outfitters (EMO).

Bicycle Course

Awards Ceremony - 1:30 pm

The bicyclists will then turn left on Rte 187 from EMO and proceed on Rte 187 6.5 miles to the stop sign in Stowell. They will then turn around at that intersection and come back on the same road. Bikes will continue past EMO to turn right at the stop sign, going back across the river bridge to finish at the high school parking lot. The bicycle course is basically flat with gradually ascending rolling hills between Hollenback and Stowell. Note- There will be a no-passing zone at the turn around point in Stowell. For safety and courtesy no passing from pylons 20 yards before and after the turn around point.
The awards ceremony will be at the Wyalusing Fall Festival, Main Street Wyalusing, next to the Greater Wyalusing Chamber Commerce office and Blue Heron Art Gallery.

The safe operation of the event is a top priority of the organizers and we wish it to be an enjoyable and memorable occasion for all. Participants should practice courteous sportsmanship, and spectators and vehicular traffic should exercise good judgment and caution in all areas of the event. Please abide by the rules and listen to instructions of race officials, police and traffic controllers. Bicyclists should make sure their brakes and all components of their bike are in top working order.
